what are hot water systems?
Hot water systems are essential for efficiently circulating hot water throughout residential and commercial properties. These pumps help maintain a consistent supply of hot water to taps and appliances, ensuring comfort and convenience for users. By circulating hot water effectively, these pumps also contribute to energy savings and overall system efficiency. Proper installation and maintenance of hot water pumps are crucial to ensure optimal performance and longevity. If you're looking to upgrade your hot water system, considering the quality and capacity of the pump is key to meeting your hot water demands.
Comfort Mechanical Solutions doesn’t only provide you comfort in the atmosphere, now we also heat your water supply! When considering an upgrade to your existing hot water system, it’s important to note the price points, the benefits, features, and desired use (generally linked to how many occupants there are). When on the market for a hot water system, there are many types to choose from, all with their own benefits.
Which hot water system is best for me?
Electric hot water system: Similar to your favourite kettle, the water gets heated via an element inside the storage tank. The electric systems are the most affordable units to install upfront, however they are the most expensive to maintain due to their energy efficiency levels. However within the category of electric systems there are two options, continuous flow and instantaneous which only heats the water when the hot water tap is in use. A negative with these units is that they require a 3 phase electricity connection point, which may add to the cost of installation.
Gas hot water systems: The most common system used for hot water systems. They have a smaller form factor and can heat up the water relatively faster than their electric counterpart. A gas burner is used to heat the water which ultimately reduces the electricity bill greatly. The main benefit of using a gas system is that the water will never go hold while in use.
Solar hot water system: The more popular environmentally sound choice. The solar water system is more commonly used in new home builds as they convert energy released from the sun essentially making your hot water for free. Generally these system are still connected to either an electric or gas supply in case the sun doesn’t come out.
Heat pump systems: By far the most effective system in reducing costs. Similar to the electric hot water system, the heat pump uses electricity to heat up your water supply through a technology similar to that of a refrigerator (however extracting heat from the air rather than coolness. Heat pumps are generally more expensive to install., however their versatility, operational costs, and technological benefits make it a worthy contender.
In our experiences working along side AquaTech, we’ve noticed a significant spike in customer satisfaction when replacing their old units. The Aquatech range have exceeded expectations with build quality, efficiency, power, and form factor. Unlike other units, the Aquatech pump is made of a material two times thicker than the market, making it the most durable system in our disposal with a maintenance free claim.
Not only will it reduce your operational costs by up to 70%, the Aquatech range are equiped with smart technology. A dedicated app is made to monitor and control water usages as well as heating modes. The smart system allows you the control of setting timers to optimise electricity tariffs or Solar PV and wifi connectivity. Aquatech provides you with unparalleled control over your homes hot water.
There are two models currently available though Aquatech. The Dynamic/X8 and the Rapid/X6. Both models maintain the same core components and heating capacity. Even though the RAPID/X6 has 45L less storage capacity this is our most popular model as it's capable of servicing homes with up to six occupants. This is because the recovery sensor positions are lower in the tank, meaning less hot water needs to be drawn off before it will trigger the reheat cycle and therefore results in a faster recovery.
Heating Capacity: Heating capacity is a measure of a heat pumps peformance and is a critical specification for any purchaser to consider. This parameter will determine whether a system will suit a homes needs and how it is likely to perform under specific operating conditions. In standard mode, the DYNAMIC/X8 is capable of 740L daily hot water output and the RAPID/X6 is capable of 600L daily hot output.
Aquatech product information for a more informed choice.
Each model includes 5 preset modes for customisable heat pump settings based on household size and power tariffs. Using the Tuya App interface, all models have Wifi connectivity. This allows for smart heating cycles based on ambient or tank temperatures. All tank models are made from 2.5mm sheeting for the tank cylinder and 3.0mm for the domes, twice as thick as traditional electric hot water systems. All models feature an impressed current anode which is non-sacrificial and requires no ongoing maintenance to protect the tank. All models of our product have a control protection feature to prevent the element and heat pump from running simultaneously, which reduces the maximum power draw to 1800W. This allows for easy installation on circuits that meet the load conditions of plates with a rating of 10AMP. The low power draw ensures that the product is energy-efficient and cost-effective. The compact design of all the models is worth mentioning. These models feature a convex bottom dome construction allowing 98% of the storage volume to be heated. As a result, the systems are significantly shorter when compared to similar capacity models. This is important as most heat pumps require at least 300mm clearance above the system for servicing. Taller systems might not fit under standard home eaves, making it difficult to install them. The Flanged Element with Robert Shaw Thermostat is equipped with the same element configuration found in all-electric hot water systems manufactured in Australia. This configuration permits the system to be rewired to operate completely independently of any controller or PCB board. As a result, in a service event, regardless of the issue, it will always be possible to ensure that hot water is supplied to the home. All models feature a dual-feed fan operating at low noise levels for sensitive environments to ensure customer satisfaction. All models have a full metal exterior made from Galvanised Sheeting (same construction as colour bond) to protect against corrosion. There are no exposed plastic components that can degrade over time.
